Wood carving art
It is a traditional art industry in Sri Lanka.
Among the places with traditional carvings are the Ambakke Devalaya, the Magul Maduwa in Kandy, the Silver Temple, the Temple of the Tooth and the door frames of religious places.
Different types of wood are used and especially durable loose wood is used.
Equipment used for design
1 Irinian, flat neon, moku neon
2 dot thorns
3 Wooden hand boy, Aliskatuwa, avagara
4 grindstone, oil stone
5 Burma, sharp saw, Warakkala
6 Peera etc. tools.
It has spread from the central region to various parts of Sri Lanka.
Popular areas are Kandy, Galle, Ambalangoda, Mirissa, Agalpitiya, Kalutara, Moratuwa, Panadura.

Wood carvings are used for all kinds of purposes such as clothes, tables, cupboards, cupboard shelves, doors, door frames, windows, furniture, ornaments, and various religious statues.
