Sri Lanka’s Consulate Office in Dubai was established on 1st August 1993 with the objective to provide consular, welfare and labour services to Sri Lankan expatriates in Dubai and Northern Emirates while promoting bilateral economic relations between the two countries.

Subsequently, Sri Lanka’s Consulate Office in Dubai was upgraded to Consulate General status in 1999. Mr. Nalinda Wijerathna is the Hon. Consul General of Sri Lanka to Dubai & Northern Emirates since January 2020.

A dedicated Tea Promotional Unit of Sri Lanka tea Board is functioning in the Consulate General to promote Ceylon Tea in the markets of Middle East and Northern African (MENA) region.

While servicing the Consular needs of the Sri Lankan Community, the Consulate General has been playing a significant role in attracting UAE investments, promoting Sri Lankan exports, tourism and works closely with the UAE trade promotional institutions to strengthen bilateral economic relations between UAE and Sri Lanka.
